Our Softer Footprint

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead

Nourishing Storm is dedicated to creating a softer footprint in the way we use energy and resources in our cafe, studio and in our community. Here are ways we are working towards giving back to mother nature:

All of our food scraps are given to a local family for their chickens or composted with BCS Compost.

About BCS Compost:

BCS Compost is a curbside composting service that collects food waste and other organic material from residential and commercial businesses. All material is diverted from landfills and composted into rich organic soil. We aim to educate and create a passion within our community to find simple solutions to live an environmental sustainable life.

For more info or to sign up to compost in your home or business, please visit here.

Going “Strawless”

Over 500,000,000 plastic straws are produced every day. Unfortunately, a vast majority of these straws end up in our oceans, contributing to millions of tons of trash and over 1,000,000 seabirds and 100,000 marine mammals ingesting plastic. It’s time to say “no” to plastic straws.

Things you can do:

– Mindfully sip your drink without a straw

– Use one of our reusable straws while drinking your smoothie or juice in the cafe

– On the go? Bring in your own reusable cup with straw or purchase one at NS (25 cents off each beverage when you use your reusable cup and straw)

– Sign the “StrawFree Pledge
