Yoga found me during a time of devastating loss. I intentionally sought out yoga as a means of healing and in looking for a studio I found NS. What came next was a transformative yoga practice, a community, a means of not just surviving, but finding beauty, grace and lots of inspiration! I feel like NS has allowed me to grow and become my most authentic and highest version of me… always a work in progress though and never finished!
How long have you practiced?
I had a longtime dabbling practice, but as of 2016 it’s become an integral part of me. I cannot imagine where I would be without it. My mat is my safe, honoring, healing and my favorite place to be!
How long have you worked @ NS?
It all started with my Love Bulb project and Kristin’s willingness to support that by selling them in the cafe. “What’s next” is the question she always asks me! What’s next was the Grief Gathering and Storm ambassadorship in the Community Garden and most recently being part of the Teen Series. I’m actually part of the soon to graduate class of NS “Root to Rise” Teacher Training! The Garden is resting and dormant now but the days are getting longer and as spring comes it will soon be time to grow! Stay tuned as all are welcome to join me in the community yoga garden! So grateful for the opportunities that NS has brought to my life and cannot wait to see what’s next!
What is your favorite season?
I am totally, completely from head to yogi toes a summer girl! From strawberries and (yes, Meg) kale in June, straight through to juicy fresh tomatoes and fragrant basil in August all the way to apple picking in September. Summer is the season of abundance! Summer is also slow, it’s bare feet and thunderstorms, it’s Cape May and morning yoga on the patio, it’s long sunshiny days and hummingbirds! What is not to love?
What is one thing you are proud of?
I’m so very proud of the Love Bulb Project (it’s a company now!) It’s a way to honor my Bonnie’s memory and her love of growing all things. It also gives back to women in recovery in amazing ways! Scholarships to retreats, donations to organizations, grocery cards, yoga supplies for yoga for recovery and the ultimate goal is to team up with and employ women in recovery. We shall see where it goes, but it’s been such a lovely means of surviving and bringing beauty from ashes! When you are not doing yoga, what are you doing?
My first love was art and I love doing any and all creative endeavors. That includes creating a garden, painting, sketching, reading, making yummy vegetarian/vegan meals, walking, being in nature. I’m a Mamma of two awesome young adult sons who I adore! My day job is working in a classroom with 18-21 year olds as I get to be a supporter in lots of fun and creative ways there. Basically I don’t want to waste a minute of this precious life, I wish to create beauty and love while I get to be here. Everyday is a gift- “stay in awe”! -BJP
