Yogi of the Month- September 2023
“I was not new to yoga - I had taken a couple of weekly classes at the Hatboro library but I wanted something that was more than once a week because I was at a loss mentally and physically. I was having a difficult time at work and I had been diagnosed with anemia. Which left me with not enough stamina to do much of anything. With how fatigued my body was it started to affect how I was feeling mentally. I was looking for something that would allow me to be physically active on a daily basis but also be low impact. I happened to be scrolling through the MyHatboro app just checking out all that was in the borough when I stumbled upon Nourishing Storm. I thought about joining for a couple of months before I actually did. Primarily because I was waiting for a time in my life that I could dedicate myself to yoga and to get into a new routine. So in late June of 2023. I got a two week pass that gave me access to all classes. I have the best memory of my first class ever - I walked into Jamie’s Bliss class (now called connect) on a Thursday afternoon and I was immediately welcomed. Jamie’s energy made me feel like I belonged. Not to mention that the class kicked my butt without me feeling like I was going to fall over. After my two weeks of a “trial”, I signed up for the year and I could not be happier. I have done my best to attend almost one class a day - I’ve missed a couple of days… but going into the studio or hopping on virtually has been something that I look forward to every day and something I will always make time for.
Since I have joined the Storm I have noticed I’m not as fatigued, I am more physically active, my body feels great, I can touch my toes in a forward fold (something I have never been able to do), and most importantly my mental health is better than it’s been in a long time. My anxiety is more manageable and when moments pop up I get myself in a comfy seated position and just breathe.
I cannot be more grateful for the community of teachers and fellow yogis that have welcomed me at Nourishing Storm. I have learned so much more than I ever expected and I have gained a second family. I am honored that I was given the opportunity to be the yogi of the month.”
