Cat Tail Pull

Awaken the hip flexors and quads in a supine twist to support the wellbeing of the spine and the whole being in Cat Tail Pull.

Benefits

  • A counterpose to strong forward bends (such as the Snail or Caterpillar)

  • Mildly compresses the lower back

  • Opens the quadriceps and upper thighs.

Directions

  1. Start by lying down on your mat

  2. Draw your right knee to your chest and with your left hand guide your right knee across your body to the left rolling to your left side with your left elbow on the earth and your head resting on your left palm

  3. To pull your cat tail take your right hand to your left foot and start to pull your foot towards you

  4. Stay for 3-5 minutes and then repeat on the other side

Modifications

  • If you can not reach your foot when you go to pull your tail, use a strap to guide the foot closer to you

  • Place a block, blanket or bolster under the knee of the leg twisting across your body for support
