Sandalwood {Be Open to Possibility}
"To be hopeful means to be uncertain about the future, to be tender toward possibilities, to be dedicated to change all the way down to the bottom of your heart."
- Rebecca Solnit
Sandalwood is a time-honored incense material that has been utilized for thousands of years in both homes and temples. Hailing from Indonesia, it is prized for its wood and oil, which are important in construction and serve as a prominent note in perfumes. Sandalwood is associated with inner peace, mental clarity, and openness. It encourages emotional vulnerability, sharpens mental focus, and nurtures inner strength while enhancing intimacy. Its calming aroma promotes tranquility, aids in restful sleep, and helps reduce stress and anxiety.
Remaining open to possibilities involves allowing things to naturally emerge and develop instead of trying to force outcomes. It’s about approaching each moment, experience, or event with a mindset of observation and curiosity, rather than seeking to control them. Once we can truly see (and smell) what is front us of can we find peace and guidance for our next steps.
Powerful questions to consider, inspired by the open nature of Sandalwood:
What areas do I want to grow this year?
What am I prepared to let go of?
What am I determined to hold on to?
If I were to start something brand new, what would it be?
What is one step I can take to move forward?
