Ankle Stretch
This yin yoga posture is all about your ankles and feet! Ankle Stretch provides a nice opportunity to both stretch and strengthen the feet that carry you around throughout the day. It can be an intense stretch, especially if you never sit like this so take it slow and ease your way in and out until you can hold for a minute or so.
Benefits
Stretches your ankles and tops of your feet
Builds ankle strength
Improves your balance
Directions
Start in table top position (all fours) with knees under hips
Shift your weight back into your legs and sit upright with your hips on top of your heels in a kneeling position. Place your fingertips on the floor or on blocks by your side.
As you gaze forward start to slowly shift your weight back as you lift your knees off the floor.
You can leave your hands by your side, on your knees, in prayer position or extended out in front of you.
Stay here for a few breaths and then gently return back to a seated position with your knees on the ground.
Modifications
Use a blanket under your knees to protect your knees and ankles
Place two blocks next to you to lift the floor and get extra support
