4 Powerful Questions to Honor Breath
We live in an ocean of air like fish in a body of water. By our breathing we are attuned to our atmosphere. If we inhibit our breathing we isolate ourselves from the medium in which we exist.
― Alexander Lowen, The Voice of the Body
“Just breathe.” It should be written on every prescription pad in the world. It’s by no means a cure-all, but it serves to keep our bodies and minds focused, energized, and composed, laying the foundation for wellness. We should be aware of our breath in all of our waking hours, not just in times of stress or when we are instructed to in a yoga/meditative practice. Our April Theme gives us an opportunity to mindfully cultivate this habit.
Powerful Questions:
What are some of the emotional or physical things that can inhibit your breath?
What are some of the consequences of this that you have observed or experienced?
How often do we actually make the connection with physical discomfort and breath?
And, just for fun, what takes your breath away?
Questions presented by Eileen Seiler, RYT & Writer for Nourishing Storm. Eileen is a writer and teacher at Nourishing Storm. You can catch her Brewing Storm class Fridays at 9:30 am.
We meet at the Nourishing Storm monthly to discuss these questions and the theme as a whole. Join us for our next meeting Sunday, April 3rd at 10 am.
