(KUH-mutt-Kuh-RUSS-uh-nuh)

"the ecstatic unfolding of the enraptured heart."

Wild Thing is one of the most playful postures, one that invites expansion, positivity and joy.  This happens by energetically rooting to the earth while at the same time opening your heart, throat and third eye as you continue to lift up, feeling into a complete sense of freedom and possibility. Tap into your inner wild as you dance your way through one legged dog or side plank to find your Wild Thing.

Benefits

  • Opens up chest, lung, and shoulder areas, as well as the front of the legs and hip flexors

  • Builds strength in shoulders and upper back

  • Can create a sense of freedom and joy in the body and mind

Directions

  1. Start in Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward-Facing Dog).

  2. Shift your weight into your right hand and roll onto the outer edge of your right foot like Vasisthasana (Side Plank Pose).

  3. On an inhalation, lift your hips while firming pressing your right hand into the ground. On an exhale, step your left foot back and place your toes on the ground behind you with your knee partially bent.

  4. As you breathe in this posture keep pressing your hips and heart up while gazing up in the direction of your lifted arm.

  5. Hold for 5-10 breaths breaths and then return through Down Dog to repeat on the other side.

Modifications

  • Practice this for all fours instead of downward facing dog with your knees on the ground.

Practice our pose of the month with us in your next Studio or Virtual class.
