On Reigniting
Like the fire in the belly you need the fuel, a dream or a goal or an intention. You need the heat, the drive, the motivation the desire. You need the oxygen. A deep inhale to stoke the flame and a strong exhale to get rid of the smoke and toxins.
Rehearsing Yoga
There are days when Yoga is a practice. There are days when Yoga is a rehearsal. The days when yoga is rehearsed is when there are instructors and other students. A certain energy brought on by other people with the same desired outcome.
What is the desired outcome of rehearsing yoga? It is about creating a story with likeminded people, with a community.
Reignite
Our theme for February is REIGNITE, a hot topic indeed! What's been dormant in your life? Where do you need to ignite some passion and energy? A relationship, your yoga practice, a professional or personal project? It's time to re-awaken to all of the possibilities, insights and, of course, access to new and abundant excitement and connection along the way.
Parsvottanasana (Intense Side Stretch/Pyramid)
Intense Side Stretch or Pyramid Pose is a standing yoga posture that combines the benefits of three major movements: forward bending, backward bending and balancing. It requires intense focus and a very calm mind to balance and stay in correct alignment. Parsvottanasana helps to prepare the body for seated forward folds, backbends, inversions, and twists.
Reimagine
Imagination has no limits. So, to RE-IMAGINE yourself or your world is to be open—over and over—again to all the possibilities life has to offer. Join us on, Sunday, January 8th at 10 am for a lively discussing on our theme of the month and what it means to you as we enter into a brand- new year. Here are some things to consider.
Sukhasana (Easy Seat)
Easy Seat (Sukasana) is a basic yoga pose depicted in some of the oldest images of ancient yogis more than 2,000 years ago. Sometimes called “Simple Cross-Legged Pose”, Sukhasana is intended to be comfortable and calming, a reimagining of our posture in a new and more beneficial way.
A year in review + 2023 ReAwakening Themes
We started our year aspiring to live our best life. We admired those around us and the life that we were creating. We found room to abide, and breathed into the moments that both challenged us and brought us tears of joy. We push the limits of our comfort zone to seek and find wholeness. We conquered those damn mountains and surrendered our expectations, trusting that the universe truly does have our backs.
Receive
It’s not always about giving, is it? Sometimes, it is better to RECEIVE — and how we do that is what we will explore this month in our S2W group. How we recognize and accept what we receive on a daily basis can make a big difference in our lives and those around us. Join us for an enlightening discussion with plenty of opportunities to give and RECEIVE.
Savasana
We end each yoga class with Savasana or Corpse pose. In this posture, we practice being present and surrendering to the moment while receiving the benefits of a calm body and care-free mind. Come into Savasana after you have completed a series of postures or anytime you need to receive and rest.
Give
GIVE. It’s something we do every day in so many ways we don’t even think about. We give our time and energy to our job, volunteer work, or other responsibilities; we give our hearts to our loved ones; we give gifts for special occasions; maybe we give money to charity; hopefully, we give ourselves some TLC. Our S2W discussion this month focuses on what and how each of us gives and how that giving affects the larger community.
Salamba Sarvangasana - Supported Shoulderstand
Supported Shoulderstand is an inverted yoga pose that stretches the back of the neck while strengthening the spine and core muscles. It is appropriate for intermediate to advanced yoga students.
Surprise yourself!
I don’t know about you, but I love surprises. They bring you in directions you might not have taken otherwise. As our S2W theme of the month for October, we’ll consider how
SURPRISE fits into our lives and how we can welcome it as a way of opening our minds and hearts. Who knows? You may surprise yourself with what comes up during our lively, free-flowing discussion.
Viparita Karani - Legs up the Wall
Legs Up the Wall is a rejuvenating inversion that brings relief to the legs, feet, spine and nervous system. It’s a gentle way to bring the body into a state of deep relaxation and renewal and accessible to anyone, no matter their level of experience.
The Power of Intention
To mindfully make the leap (or baby steps) from intention to results requires clarity, self-knowledge, and determination. Let’s see if we can get there, together.
Bharmanasana - Table Top Pose
Tabletop provides a nice transition from seated to standing poses. It brings awareness of the core and spine by engaging the muscles to create length and strength. It also assists you in all poses.
Surrender to the Flow
This month, we will contemplate the scary, crazy, wildly exciting idea of surrender. Here are some prompts to get the discussion started.
Uttanasana - Standing Forward Fold
Standing Forward Fold or Uttanasana, calms the mind while stretching and rejuvenating the whole body. This pose is an essential element of Sun Salutations and helps to prepare the body for deeper forward bends.
